Jacob Huffstutler, born about 1790 in York County. SC, son of Henry Huffstutler, moved to Knox, County, TN with his parents around 1811. He married, in Knox County on Nov. 12, 1817 to Mary " Polly" Letsinger, daughter of Phillip Letsinger.

Jacob was a soldier in the War of 1812 for three months in 1815. He was drafted into Capt. Roger's Co.. at Knoxville, TN in April of 1815 and received his discharge three months later in Knoxville. His pension papers are in file at the Archives in Nashville, TN.

Jacob and Polly moved from Knox County to Roane County before 1830 and were in the 1830 census of Roane County. They then moved back to Knox County and were in the 1840 census. By 1850 they had moved to Anderson County and were living there when that census was taken. All of this moving around is the reason so many researchers have confused this Jacob with the Jacob Hufstedler, Junior, son of Henry's uncle , Jacob Hufstedler Sr.

Living in the same household was Baily, Nancy M. age 40 without occupation, Baily, Thomas age 11. Baily, Mary age 7. Kegley, Cristian Y. age 25, white domestic servant and one other person currently can not make out, it is a female age 50 Black without occupation.

Michael inherited part of his father's farm & on May 6, 1786 he bought 182 acres & 103 perches in Hopewell Twp, YOrk Co, Pa. Sept 5,1801 he sold land to Michael Morrison (DeedBk 2, p 388, York). Exact year to Roane Co, Tn unknown. Built house & mill at Swan Pondnear Harriman in Roane Co, Tn. One purchase of 133 acres is dated Apr 20, 1809. Bap. rec for 1st 6 ch have been found in YorkCo, Hopewell Twp, Baltimore Co, Md- Steltz Church (6th Dist) next Co to York but in Md. Steltz Ch rec'ds lost.
