Mary Gitchell-Horn

Mary was born in Murray Co., GA on 10 Oct.1855. Mary died in 1902 in Doniphan, MO. She was the daughter of John W. GITCHELL and Sarah NEAL.

Her Sisters were:

Clarinda Gitchell b. 1850 in Whitfield Co., GA. m. William Autrey d. 1925 in Missouri.

Sally Gitchell b. 1854

Sarah L. Gitchell b. 1854 in GA. m. William H. Ledford

Mary's father "OLD" John W. Gitchell is my BRICK WALL. The only thing I know about him for sure is that he was born about 1814 in either OH or PA. He married Sarah Neal before 1850 and was the father of three or four girls (perhaps Sally and Sarah L. were the same person) John was gone from GA before 1860. Sarah and the girls were living with her parents in the 1860 Census.

Sarah married Charles W. McAllister about 1864 and gave birth to three more daughters:

Amanda B. McAllister b. 1865

Elinor McAllister b. 1866

Julia McAllister b. 1869
